      Thailand lies in the heart of Southeast Asia.  The population is roughly 65 million citizens,  which the majority of whom are ethnically Thai.  The main religion in Thailand is Buddhism,  just over 94% of Thais are Buddhist.  The main currency is the Thai Baht which is found in coin and banknote form.

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand where the biggest part of their economy relies on export,  but tourism is also a major industry for them.  Thailand is very seasonal and is best to avoid the rainy season July through til October and can get very hot during the summer.  November through til February are the coolest times of the year and there is certainly less rain during this period.  The height of the tourist season is December through til about April.  When people like to get away for a Christmas and New Year break or even visit for the Thai New Year known as the Songkran festival celebrated from 13th April to 15th April.
