About this site
Written by someone who's actually been.
I'm Kim. I lived in Thailand for a large part of my life, I speak Thai, and I've made most of the mistakes this site warns you about. Paid the airport exchange rate. Took the tuk-tuk with the "special price". Showed up at a night market at 10pm wondering where all the food went.
Most Thailand travel advice online is written by people who spent two weeks there, or by nobody at all. The same twenty recommendations get copied from list to list, and a lot of them point you at places locals stopped going to years ago. This site is my attempt at the opposite: what I'd tell a friend over dinner before their first trip.
That means opinions. Some famous places are worth the queue and some are not, and I'll tell you which I think is which. When something on this site is an opinion, it's mine, formed by going there. When it's a fact, like a price or a timetable, I check it, but things in Thailand change fast, so if you catch something out of date, tell me and I'll fix it.
The site earns money through affiliate links to booking services like Agoda, 12Go, and GetYourGuide. Those links never decide what gets recommended. The recommendation comes first, then we link to the easiest place to book it.
Good places to start: the first-trip checklist, weather by month, or the travel planner.
