Thailand itinerary
Thailand in 10 Days: Bangkok and the Andaman Coast
Three nights in Bangkok, then a week on the Andaman coast between Krabi and Koh Lanta. Two regions, two flights, no rushing.
Ten days is not enough for three regions, so this route drops the north and gives the time to two. You get three nights in Bangkok to get over the jet lag and see the city properly, then one flight south to Krabi for the limestone and the boat trips, and four slow nights on Koh Lanta to finish. Every move is a short one, and nobody spends a day in an airport they didn't have to. If your dates fall between June and September, the Andaman is wet and I'd do the Gulf islands instead.
The route
- 1Bangkok3 nights
- 2Krabi3 nights

Day by day
Days 1–3
Bangkok
The arrival hub: temples, markets, and rooftop food, walkable in the cool season.
- Grand Palace and Wat Pho when the gates open at 8:30 am, before the heat and the tour groups
- A weekday breakfast at the Silom Soi 5 morning market, then the local river boat up to Talad Noi and Wat Arun in the late afternoon
- Srinakarin Train Night Market (Thursday to Sunday from 5 pm, fullest on Friday and Saturday)
- Day trip to Ayutthaya on the ordinary train, about 20 baht each way
Tip · Bangkok has two airports and the budget airlines mostly fly to Krabi from Don Mueang. Check the airport code on your ticket before you book the hotel.

Krabi
Limestone cliffs, Railay, and a launchpad for Andaman island-hopping.
- Stay in Ao Nang and take the longtail to Railay for the day (100 baht each way, last boats back around sunset)
- Hong Islands longtail trip to the inner lagoon
- Kayaking through the mangroves at Ao Thalane, 20 minutes north of Ao Nang
- Dinner at the Krabi Town night market on Khong Kha Road, better and cheaper than the Ao Nang strip
Days 7–10
Koh Lanta
Long, quiet Andaman island for slowing down, with west-facing beaches and a real old town.
- Long Beach (Phra Ae) as a base, with quieter Klong Nin and Kantiang Bay a scooter ride south
- Lanta Old Town on the east coast, late afternoon into a seafood dinner on the piers
- The lighthouse at Mu Ko Lanta National Park on the southern tip (200 baht entry for foreigners)
- Snorkelling day trip to Koh Rok and Koh Haa, about an hour out by speedboat
Tip · From November to April a passenger ferry runs from Ao Nang to Lanta once a day, late morning. The rest of the year it is a minivan and the car ferry at Ban Hua Hin, 2.5 to 3 hours, which is also how you get back to Krabi Airport for the flight out.
